Guess what I found waiting for me when I got back to my apartment today?!

^ those!
I bought the whole set on eBay for $46 (plus $4 shipping). Amazon’s asking price was $103.95, and I didn’t really feel like explaining to my mom why I needed to spend a hundred bucks on books that weren’t school-related. When I was in middle school I was obsessed with this series, but never made it to “The End” for some bizarre reason that I can’t remember right now; come to think of it, I don’t even recall what happened to my original set. Darn you, parents and your many garage sales!
Lately, I’ve found myself being weirdly obsessed with finding, rebuying, and/or rereading books from my childhood because a) I love them to death, 2) they made me into the nerd I am today, and iii) I figure that by the time my own kids are old enough to start reading, a lot of the books I’ve read and loved over the years might not even be in print anymore, or only available in *shudder* ebook form. Personally, I think my extensive book collection is a really good investment, especially if the world decides to pull a Fahrenheit 451 one of these days and I need to take my library and go underground until all that nonsense blows over.
But anyways, rambling about childhood books aside, I am so excited to reread A Series of Unfortunate Events. I don’t actually remember all the little details about what happens, so I can’t wait to find out everything all over again! Hell, I’ve got to wait until February 20th for this semester’s classes to start (they’re all online/independent study, that’s why), so I definitely need something to do!
